What do you want your life to look like? Do you want more money, more self confidence, more energy, to be a better mother, to weigh less, a more organized home, etc? We all want a lot of things in our life but why do we actually want these things? Well, what we really want are the feelings behind those things. What we really want is security and freedom, love and acceptance, the feeling of succeeding, joy, room to breathe and a sense of purpose. If you’d like to live your dream life, think about these two questions:
- What emotions do you want to feel in your daily life?
- How can you feel these emotions more often?
This is how you’ll know what your dream life really looks like and you can instantly increase the amount of happiness you feel. This further gives you a clear direction of what type of goals you should be following so that you don’t do something, because that’s what you were taught is what “you should do”. You can clarify your goals even further with a vision board with pictures or drawings of the things you wish to have in your life.
Wanna know what the fastest way to happiness is?
Be in the moment and be present.
I’m all too often finding myself thinking about the past or worrying about the future. In that state I’ll never be 100% happy. The more you and I remember to be in the present moment and to actually be present when you’re doing the dishes, playing with the kids, listening to your husband, chatting with your friends, the happier you’ll be. I know, sounds too simple to work, but it does work. Try it for one day and notice the difference. This can even work when your kid is having a temper tantrum. Because what’s really the thing that gets you worked up about that situation? Probably the fact that you wish your child wasn’t screaming that is you wish the situation was different from reality. This means you’re fighting against reality and that fight you’re always going to lose. So being present in the moment will bring you more calm and enjoyment. Any time we’re in the past or the future in our thoughts, we’re fighting against reality and missing the moment.
Try it and tell me what you notice!
